A majority of the County Commission voted to approve the Unified Development Code (UDC) during their November 1, 2022 meeting.
The county’s new UDC, which has been in development since 2020, consists of many facets of land use policy including zoning, lot and building standards, design and construction standards, environmental resource protection, erosion control and stormwater management, and regulations regarding subdivisions, parking, and signs.
The new UDC will promote the county’s health, safety, and general welfare of present and future citizens, guide current and future growth and development, as well as protect and preserve the county’s resources.
The new UDC, which covers only the unincorporated areas of the county outside city limits, will go into effect April 1, 2023. For more information about the new UDC, contact the county’s Community Development Department at 706-628-4700.
