Salary $17.09/hr plus benefits

Full-time, HSD or GED; two years related experience; possess valid driver’s license. Must possess Georgia Correctional Officer I certification at minimum security or ability to obtain same within 6 months of hire (to supervise and work with inmates). Duties include investigation of complaints, capture and handle domestic animals; issues warnings and citations; prepare case reports; testify in court as required; intake animals, vaccinate and deworm animals; enter data into computer database; schedule and transport animals to vet appointments; work with humane societies and animal restur groups; receive and process animal complaints; maintains animal complaint files & records. Full-time, HSD or GED; experience in emergency communications or related field preferred; possess valid Public Safety Communications Officer and CPR certifications or ability to obtain same within 6 months of hire. Ability to operate a variety of equipment to include computer, printer, voice recorder, TDD, satellite weather receiver, communication equipment. Duties include dispatching law enforcement, fire, emergency medical service, and non-emergency calls; receiving, screening and monitoring routine and emergency calls; recording all information manually or via computer.

DEPUTY SHERIFF for Sheriff's Office

Salary $20.67/hr plus benefits

Full-time.  At least 21 years of age HSD or GED; more than 2 years of experience in law enforcement preferred. Currently POST certified as a Peace Officer in the State of Georgia. Possession of or ability to readily obtain GCIC/NCIC certification.  Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, enforcement of State Law and local ordinances; patrols the county to deter and detect criminal activities; writes traffic tickets; directs traffic; assists at accident scenes. Delivers subpoenas and other civil papers to defendants. Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service as directed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing security/general work functions associated with maintaining the safety, security and welfare of inmates in jail.

Helpdesk Technician for IT

Salary $17.09/hr plus benefits

***POSITION STARTING JANUARY 2023*** Full-Time. HSD or GED; The helpdesk technician’s role is to ensure proper technology operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end-user help requests and escalating incidents when considered appropriate and necessary to maintain SLA expectations. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as requiring that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.  Position to begin January 2023. 

HR GENERALIST for Administrative Office

Salary $56,800 plus generous benefits

Full-time. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma (bachelor degree in HR preferred), at least three years experience in a HR department (local government HR experience preferred), knowledge of modern HR practices and trends, excellent customer service skills, and possession of valid Georgia driver’s license. This position is under the direction of the County Manager and will be the first point of contact for all perspective employees; maintain master list of all funded positions and position vacancies; prepare job announcements; accept job applications and resumes, screen for qualifications, and forward the best ones to the appropriate department; conduct pre-employment screening of applications such as reference checks, employment verifications, drug testing, social media checks, and motor vehicle checks; prepare job offer letters; conduct new employee orientation; process new hires, promotions, demotions, transfers, disciplinary, and termination actions; follow new employees’ 30/60/90 day progress; ensure county is following and complying with all federal and state laws; conduct periodic employee training sessions; research and implement an objective employee performance appraisal system; assist department heads with HR issues; accept employee grievances and complaints, conduct investigations to resolve issues, and recommend appropriate actions based on approved policies; maintain and interpret HR policies and rules and update those rules periodically; act as EEO officer; provide quality control of payroll, act as payroll backup, and assist the payroll & benefit specialist as needed; and conduct exit interviews and collect all county property upon termination/retirement.

LIFEGUARDS for Community Center

Salary $11.19/hr

Part-Time. Experience preferred. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary. Must possess current valid certifications for lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED, and possess and maintain valid drivers license or have reliable transportation.

MOWER OPERATOR for Public Works

Salary $14.53/hr plus benefits

Full-time; HSD or GED; experience in operation of tractor with bush-hog mowing attachment. Must possess valid drivers license.

PROGRAM COORDINATOR for Community Center

Salary: $15.38/hr.

Full-time; Responsibilities include research, development scheduling and promotion of all non-athletic recreation programming including aquatic programming, special events and facility rentals. Ability to write standard operating procedures for facilities, events, permits and any other event-related procedures.  Oversees schedules of all part time staff, contracted labor and special event volunteers. Oversees the social media and website promotions for the Harris County Community Center and Harris County Recreation Department.  Bachelor’s degree one to two years related experience or training and or equivalent combination of both. Possession of or the ability to readily obtain CPO/AFO certification within six months of hire. Ability to readily obtain certification to supervise state inmates within three months of hire. Valid driver’s license.



Salary $19.31/hr plus benefits

Full-time; HSD or GED; three years experience; ability to pass appropriate state-certified license for water or wastewater treatment or distribution as appropriate; possess and maintain valid drivers license; ability to operate back-hoe and similar equipment. Responsible for maintenance & repair on pump stations, install & repair water main, perform filter plans maintenance & repair, install water services, locate water mains, install, repair & maintain fire hydrants, operate trench equipment; operate dump truck, and water loss reports. Knowledge of hydraulics, pump stations, pressure valves, computers & related software.


Salary $16.24/hr plus benefits.

Full-time; HSD or GED; 2 years experience; ability to pass appropriate state certified license for water or wastewater treatment or distribution; possess and maintain valid driver’s license.  Responsibilities include locating utilities, cleaning sewage lift stations, completing service orders, installing water meters, lock & unlock meters, obtain water samples and repair water service leaks.
