Parks and Recreation Department

The Parks and Recreation Department provides county-wide recreational programming to all citizens of the county. This department manages the Community Center, five parks (Pate Park, Moultrie Park, Soccer Complex, Pine Mountain Valley Park, and Ellerslie Park), 10.5 miles of the paved Man O’ War walking trail, and four miles of paved walking trails in Hamilton.

Moultrie Park

29-acre park consisting of seven ballfields of which five are lighted, concession stand, ½ mile paved looped walking trail, restrooms, pavilion, and paved parking.

Pate Park

100-acre park consisting of six lighted ballfields, a lighted football field, two lighted tennis courts, two lighted basketball courts, two concession stands, two pavilions, and paved parking.

Pine Mountain Valley Park

12-acre park consisting of a large pavilion, restrooms, tennis court, baseball field, basketball court, and a playground.

Ellerslie Park

This new 120-acre county park with a 12.5-acre lake will consist of nature trails, playground, two pavilions with restrooms, grassed play area, paved road and parking, and a lodge for day use rental.

Soccer Complex

34-acre park consisting of many soccer fields, two concession stands with restrooms, a pavilion with restrooms, 9/10 of a mile paved walking trail, and gravel parking.

Man O' War Railroad Recreation Trail

The Man O’ War Railroad Recreation Trail is a 10.5 mile long and 10 foot wide paved trail for non-motorized use extending from the town of Pine Mountain to the city of Hamilton along an abandoned rail line. This trail has many scenic views, trail heads with parking, and benches along the way. An additional 3.1 miles is currently being developed from Hamilton to Mulberry Creek.
