The Board of Elections & Registration consist of three members appointed by the Board of Commissioners for four- year staggered terms. The Board of Elections & Registration recommends, and the Board of County Commissioners appoints an Election Supervisor/Chief Register to conduct county elections, register citizens to vote, maintain list of registered voters, issue absentee ballots, disseminate information to the public, train poll workers, and assist the cities with their elections.

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. §21-2-385(d)(1)(A) & (B), the Harris County Board of Elections & Registration announces Advance Voting opportunities for the May 19, 2026, General Primary Election/Nonpartisan Election.
Advance Voting

Advance Voting is for all registered Harris County voters, regardless of their assigned Election Day polling place.
The deadline for registering to vote in the May 19, 2026, General Primary Election/Nonpartisan Election is Monday, April 20, 2026. Voters may check their registration status or register to vote online through the Georgia My Voter Page (MVP).
The deadline to submit an absentee-by-mail ballot application for the Special Election is Friday, May 8, 2026. Harris County voters may return their completed absentee-by-mail ballots either by mail or in person at the Elections Office located at 757 Carver Circle in Hamilton during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All absentee-by-mail ballots must be received by the Elections Superintendent no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.
Please note that electors shall vote at their assigned polling location between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Registered voters can go to the Georgia (MVP) to check their registration status, verify their polling place, request an absentee-by-mail ballot, check the status of their returned absentee-by-mail ballot or view sample ballots.
Early tabulation will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 (Election Day) beginning at 5:00 p.m. All processing and early tabulation will take place at the Harris County Board of Elections and Registration, located at 757 Carver Circle in Hamilton. Please note that all early processing and tabulation shall be open to the view of the public.
