Abuse of prescription drugs is a major public health problem. To help address this issue, the Harris County Sheriff, in conjunction with the Council on Alcohol and Drugs, Inc., have established a medical drop box to accept outdated or unneeded pharmaceuticals in a safe manner. This drop box is located in the lobby of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office located at 9825 Georgia Highway 116 in Hamilton and is available 24/7/365.
Items that can be accepted include pills, tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of pharmaceutical drugs. Items that cannot be accepted include liquids, needles or syringes, plastic or glass pill containers, radioactive materials, and illegally manufactured controlled substances.
