The Harris County Board of Commissioners, during their May 5, 2020 regular commission meeting, proclaimed May 2020 as “Community Action Month” to recognize the county’s Community Action Agency, Enrichment Services. This non-profit agency was founded in 1965 and has a mission to eliminate poverty through education, service, and partnerships. To reduce the impact on poverty, Enrichment Services offers early childhood services such as Head Start and community services including energy assistance, employment training, and food distribution. Enrichment Services serves eight counties in Georgia (Harris, Talbot, Muscogee, Chattahoochee, Stewart, Quitman, Randolph, and Clay) and one county in Alabama (Russell).
