The Harris County Board of Commissioners recently opened its new 125-acre Ellerslie Park. This passive park (no athletic facilities or organized sports) currently consists of over 1.5 miles of walking trails around two lakes, playground, lakeside pavilion, fishing dock, renovated lodge, public fishing in the 12-acre lake, and ample parking. The lodge with its wide veranda and the 20 x 40 pavilion overlooking the lake are perfect venues to host small events. Ellerslie Park is open daily dawn to dusk.
To determine what recreational amenities are wanted in the future, the Harris County Parks & Recreation Department has prepared a brief survey to take. The survey will be opened from February 1 to March 1. The results will be posted soon thereafter on the county’s website.
