The Harris County Board of Tax Assessors will be mailing the 2020 Annual Notice of Assessment to all county property owners on or about May 26, 2020. The assessment notice includes several items of information regarding your property including current fair market value, previous fair market value, and the last day to file an appeal of your property’s value which will be Friday, July 10, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
With COVID-19 precautions being taken such as social distancing and limiting the number of people in the courthouse, if you want to appeal your property’s assessed value, please visit the Tax Assessor’s Office website at http://qpublic.net/ga/harris/ and download the Appeal of Assessment form located on the front page entitled, Appeal of Assessment. Once the form is completed and signed, either mail it to the Tax Assessor’ Office at P.O. Box 445, Hamilton, Georgia 31811 or email it to taxassessors@harriscountyga.gov by the deadline date. The Assessment Notice that you will be receiving in May is not a property tax bill and please do not send any payments. The actual property tax bill will be sent by the Tax Commissioner’s Office during early October with property taxes due by December 20. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
