During the July 7, 2020 commission meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved continuing the Man O’ War Railroad Recreation Trail rails to trails project another 1.5 miles to the Callaway Country Store, on top of Pine Mountain and rehabilitating the railroad bridge over US 27. From the Callaway Country Store, trail enthusiasts can connect to the 21 mile Pine Mountain trail. Carter and Sloope, the county’s consulting engineer on the previous three phases, will begin designing the project followed by bidding and construction. Phase IV, estimated to cost $1.2M and funded by county TSPLOST funds, will make the trail a total of 5 miles long and should be completed during Spring of 2021.
