Board Approves U.S. 27 Water Line Upgrade and Relocation

During the February 7, 2023 commission meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved Gordy Construction of Fortson, Georgia to provide and install 25,000 linear feet of replacement water lines and 32 fire hydrants on U.S. 27 from SR 315 to the Columbus/Muscogee County line. This water line improvement project is part of a larger Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) U.S. 27 road widening project. Gordy Construction submitted the low bid of $5,682,718.15. The project will be funded by a 20-year Georgia Environmental Financing Authority (GEFA) loan and GDOT reimbursement and is scheduled to be completed during early 2025.
