During the December 17, 2019 commission meeting, the Board approved hiring Wood to update the county’s 20+ year old land use and development codes into an easy to read unified land development document. Wood, located in Kennesaw, Georgia, has extensive experience in creating and updating comprehensive plans and zoning documents for many Georgia cities and counties. The update is scheduled to take about one year to complete, will cost $119,500, and will include significant public input. In addition to updating the county’s land use and development codes, Wood will also provide the Community Development Department with a professional part-time planner to assist that department with its growing workload at a cost of $42,000 per year. Lastly, Wood will assist the county in starting up a geographic information system (GIS) to manage, update, and share data with all county departments. Please check the county’s website often to see all the information, times and dates of meetings, and documents related to this very important and long lasting project.
