Harris County government welcomes new Parks & Recreation Director, Ashley Marston. Mrs. Marston has a Masters of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management degree from Clemson University, a Bachelor of Science degree from Appalachian State University, six years professionally with Girl Scouts of the USA”, and 12 years with the Harris County Recreation Department as Assistant Director and Interim Director.
Mrs. Marston has also earned several professional certifications in the recreation career field including being a certified youth sports administrator from the National Alliance for Youth Sports and a certified pool/spa operator from the National Swimming Pool Foundation. Mrs. Marston is also a member of the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) and the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA).
Mrs. Marston will be responsible for the county’s $2.8M recreational operations including the community center, the county’s park system, rails to trails project, further developing Ellerslie Park, implementing new programing and events, and coordinating the activities of various athletic associations.
Mrs. Marston will be a great asset to the Harris County management team.
