The Harris County Emergency Management Agency, headed by Monty Davis, conducted a mass casualty exercise on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Community Center. This “table top” hands-on exercise was well attended by about 35 representatives from a variety of local agencies including Emergency Medical Services, Public Health, city and county law enforcement, 911, volunteer fire departments, county officials, and school officials. All of these officials responded to a hypothetical mass casualty event to practice potential real-life scenarios, discuss coordination activities and interagency communications, determine availability of equipment, and understand incident command structures. This proactive approach to training will assist in improving overall policies, procedures, and coordination for the protection of county residents and visitors.
