Ellerslie Park, located in the southeastern part of the county on SR 315 and SR 85, was heavily damaged by the March 3, 2019 tornado and is still being cleaned up. Team Rubicon, a nation-wide 501c (3) non-profit organization that utilizes the skills and experiences of military veterans to provide assistance to disaster areas, and their 30 volunteers assisted in cleaning up a portion of the 128 acre park on Saturday, January 25 and Sunday, January 26, 2020. The volunteers spent the two days cutting up downed and partially downed trees into manageable pieces and improved a major area of the park. The debris will be burned by county crews. Team Rubicon’s generous assistance with the park’s cleanup is greatly appreciated and will help expedite the opening of the park.
