The Harris County Board of Commissioners, during their February 18, 2020 regular commission meeting, proclaimed Saturday, February 22, 2020 as “American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) Harris County Charter Chapter Day” to recognize the chapter’s 39th anniversary. This is a day set aside to honor and reflect upon the contributions and accomplishments of the millions of U.S. women in the workforce and women business owners. The ABWA was founded in 1949 and is a national association of working women that has a strong tradition of promoting the advancement of women. The Harris County chapter was established on February 15, 1982. The mission of the association is to bring together businesswomen of diverse occupations and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support, and national recognition.
