Harris County Board of Commissioners and the Troup-Harris Regional Library Board are beginning to construct a new library adjacent to the Harris County Community Center on SR 116 in Hamilton. The new 15,000 square foot library will be three times as large as the current library on North College Street. The new state-of-the-art library will contain many amenities including an adult area, teen room, computer lab, maker space, children’s area, three small conference rooms, a business center, a Board room, a 45-50 seat meeting space, staff offices, plenty of comfortable seating to enjoy a book, magazine, newspaper, e-book, and other materials, and an outside patio area. The new $5.1M library is scheduled to be opened during early 2018 and is being funded by SPLOST-2009, SPLOST-2014, state funds, and generous donations.
