After taking ownership of the 10.48 acre Pine Mountain Valley Park located at the intersection of SR 116 and C Street, Harris County Parks & Recreation Department and Public Works Department have begun development of the park. The park will be developed in phases with Phase I consisting of preparing the site for development such as preparing a state required erosion control plan, obtaining development permits, conducting a topographical survey, demolition of existing pads and structures, cutting scrub, ordering gravel and wheel stops for the gravel parking area, establishing a perimeter walking trail, and renovating the existing pavilion. Phase I is expected to be completed during late June 2024. Phase II will begin July 2024 and will consist of new restrooms/septic system and playground with an estimated cost of $350,000. Future phases may consist of pickleball courts, picnic pavilions, softball field, basketball court, and other amenities.
