The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will be replacing the bridge on U.S. 27 over Flat Shoal Creek in Troup County beginning January 23, 2023. This bridge is being replaced on the existing roadway alignment so that a new $8M bridge can be constructed to support expected higher traffic volumes and 100-year flood plain events.
U.S. 27 between Harris County (Pine Mountain) and Interstate I-185 and LaGrange will be closed beginning January 23, 2023 until about September 2023. GDOT has prepared a detour map redirecting traffic to I-185 Exit 34 (SR 18) into Pine Mountain, a 5.4 mile increase in route length.
