County Disposes of Collected Storm Debris from March 2019 Tornado

Harris County and its valued partners collected over 2,500 dump truck loads of wood storm debris resulting from the March 2019 tornado and transported most of that collected debris to Ellerslie Park. The county has hired a company to chip and grind the collected debris and transport it off-site. Vickery Grinding of Fortson, Georgia was awarded the low bid of$4.55 per cubic yard up to $125,000. The remaining wood debris is anticipated to be burned by the county during the Fall and Winter. Funding was included in the FY 2019-20 Recreation budget and the chipping and grinding portion of the project should be completed by early November.
