The Board of County Commissioners approved, during their February 20, 2024 commission meeting, accepting a $875,745 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to acquire six emergency generators. The federal share is $656,809 (75%) and the county’s share is $218,936 (25%). These generators will be installed at various water pump stations located throughout the county to have an emergency power supply to continue to pump water in case of power outages.
The six emergency generators will be installed at:
- Barnes Mill Road Pump Station
- McKee Road Pump Station
- Mountain Hills Pump Station
- Raw Water Intake Facility
- Water Treatment Plant A
- Water Treatment Plant B
These generators are expected to be bid out soon and installed as soon as they arrive which could take up to one year. But once installed, they will be a great investment in the county’s Water Works Department.
