Updated November 08, 2018:
Revised Concept Plan
Original April 20, 2018:
During the April 17, 2018 commission meeting, the Board of Commissioners voted to proceed with the development of the 139 acre Ellerslie Park located in the southern part of the county at the intersection of GA Highway 85 and GA Highway 315. Specifically, the Board approved the park’s concept plan, five- year development schedule, and a proposal from Carter Sloope to begin the engineering design for the state required turn lanes into the park, internal roads, entrance features, and pedestrian bridges. The park is expected to open during late 2018 with a gravel internal road, entrance signs and gates, pedestrian walking trails around a 12 acre lake and 2 acre lake, directional signage, and a renovated lodge for day use. Funding sources are from the previous sale of land and SPLOST-2014. Subsequent phases of the park’s development include pavilions with restrooms, playgrounds, fishing dock, more walking trails, viewing platform, and a sheriff substation funded by grants, county funds, and donations.
