Harris County government welcomes new Public Works Director, Brian Griffith. Mr. Griffith has extensive experience in many areas of public works including roads, bridges, paving, and right-of-way maintenance. Mr. Griffith worked for Coweta County for over six years as paving superintendent and for Fayette County for over 17 years as a street crew leader. In addition, Mr. Griffith has earned numerous certifications in such areas as traffic control, National Incident Management System (NIMS), pavement preservation, management, and construction, safety and supervision, and has earned a CDL Class A license.
Mr. Griffith will be responsible for the Public Works Department consisting of 21 full-time employees and a $2.9 million-dollar annual budget that maintains over 500 miles of paved and unpaved county roads, bridges, culverts, storm drainpipes, all county rights-of-way, and traffic signs, among other items. The Public Works Director is also responsible for the Animal Control Department consisting of an additional four full-time employees and a $326,000 annual budget. Mr. Griffith lives in the Pine Mountain area and will be a great asset to the Harris County management team.
