The Harris County Board of Tax Assessors has announced that Shalee R. Mallory has been hired as Chief Tax Appraiser effective Monday, August 14th. Ms. Mallory will replace retiring Chief Appraiser, Wayne Morris, who has served as the county’s Chief Appraiser since 2001. Mr. Morris will remain as part-time until December to ensure a seamless transition.
Ms. Mallory is a resident of Harris County and has been employed by the county’s Tax Assessor’s Office since April 2019. She has earned an Appraiser 3 designation from the Georgia Department of Revenue which required classes and examinations to include Cost Approach to Value, Income Approach to Value, and Tax Appeal Procedures. Ms. Mallory’s knowledge of Harris County, determination, desire to succeed, and previous work experience in the private sector as an assistant plant manager in Hogansville has allowed her to advance quickly through the ranks within the Tax Assessor’s Office. While the County welcomes Ms. Mallory as the new Chief Appraiser, the Board of Commissioners and County staff also thank Mr. Morris for his 22 year of public service and wish him an enjoyable retirement.
