Original Post April 11, 2018:
Harris County will be updating its Comprehensive Plan beginning April 2018 in accordance with a state requirement. The county’s current Comprehensive Plan was last updated during 2014 and is available for review on the county’s website at www.harriscountyga.gov under the Community Development Department. During this year long update, the county and its consultant, the River Valley Regional Commission, will be looking at and studying various elements of the county including land use, economic development, transportation, housing, needs and opportunities, community goals, and culminating with the preparation of a five-year community work program.
The kick-off meeting and a state required public hearing will be conducted on Tuesday, April 24 beginning at 5:30 p.m.in room 223 of the Harris County Courthouse located at 102 N. College Street in Hamilton. Invited attendees are Board of County Commissioners, Planning Commission, Development Authority, and the City Councils of Hamilton, Pine Mountain, Shiloh, and Waverly Hall. The purpose of this initial meeting is to discuss upcoming Comprehensive Plan activities for both the county and the cities within the county, to begin a discussion with county residents about future development concerns and opportunities, to brief the community on the opportunities for public participation, and to obtain input on the proposed planning process and discussion of issues and projects.
All residents and concerned citizens are encouraged to attend this public meeting and participate in planning the county’s future. For more information, call the county offices at 706-628-4958.
